Our Concept of a Fellowship of Intentional Neighbor

When we refer to an Acts Model Christian community, we think in terms of a “Fellowship of Intentional Neighbors” as being farmers (as described above) buying adjacent property, or living within walking distance of each other.  They would live in community only in a general sense of the term.  I grew up in the plains area of Colorado among farmers and ranchers in the 40’s and 50’s and that is how they lived.  But that community concept is unknown to most Americans today and needs to be revived.

Finding a solution for a community concept that will actually work long term in the American culture seems impossible.  But the concept found in this article will actually work because it has been Americanized enough to fit our culture.

Having this “Fellowship of Intentional Neighbors” to work with sure will be a big help. It is hard to do all that work by yourself. Building a self sufficient Christian community is in many ways just another building project or program. Our vision must be greater than the limits of just being in community.

What Is the Purpose of Life In These End Times?

This will fly in the face of the average Survivalist mentality; but, it does not matter whether we survive or not. What matters is whether we are obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and whether we are laying up treasures in Heaven … in eternity.

As I often say, the purpose of life is to prepare for eternity. Success is measured by treasures we have laid up in eternity, not here in this lifetime. Or as Leonard Ravenhill once said: “This life is a dressing room for eternity – THAT’S ALL IT IS!” Ref: 1 John 2:15-17″

Whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s and He will gather first the dead in Christ, and then the living at the time of the catching away. And we will live with Him for eternity. So don’t fret the small stuff brethren.
